The tools of entrepreneurship are as valuable to the creative practitioner as the tools of their craft. How higher education delivers this material to students is key to the success of graduates, their enterprise, business development and wealth.
In October 2000 the Enterprise Centre for the Creative Arts (ECCA) was established at London College of Communication to provide guidance and support to students and graduates of the University of the Arts London who wish to become (or already are) self-employed. Demand for the service has been high, and feedback has been incredibly positive.
The Enterprise Centre has been commended as a model of good practice by Tessa Jowell, Minister for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
In 2011, ECCA became SEE - Student Enterprise & Employability, a new service that brings together the University's careers and enterprise services along with Artstemps, Artquest and Own-it to provide students and recent graduates with advice, skills and support for their practice.
